About The Property
ACE Basin Waterfront Conservation Land
Jehossee Farms is one of the largest parcels of land currently available on Edisto Island with approximately 484 acres of recreational land consisting of tidal marsh, 191± acres of highland and 42± acres of ponds/impoundments. The property boasts serene marsh and river vistas, an abundance of wildlife and extensive frontage on Russell Creek. It offers a diverse array of uses including farming, hunting, fishing, horseback riding and other recreational pursuits. An existing dock with covered pier, floater and piles is located on Russell Creek. Rice trunks around the impoundments allow the owner to manage for waterfowl. Large stands of Longleaf and Loblolly pines exist throughout the property which can provide future timber income to the owner. The tidal salt marshes on this property provide many benefits to the land owner including privacy, water and air purification, flood control and great habitat for crabs, fish and birds. The Nature Conservancy holds a conservation easement on Jehossee Farms which allows for three subdivisions, two houses, a hunting lodge and three docks. Thousands of acres of protected land in and around Jehossee Farms ensures that this ecologically pristine area will remain undeveloped in perpetuity. Jehossee Farms is in Charleston County located on Jehossee Road just past the SC Hwy 174 bridge onto Edisto Island. It is within an hour drive from downtown Charleston.
Note: During this sale, the conservation easement was transferred to the Edisto Island Open Land Trust.
